While watching the Black Mirror season 3 premiere, the first episode got me hungry for some tapenade. You know – the scene where Lacie is lurking her social media feed and comes across her seemingly perfect and happy old friend who posts viral photos about her perfect life, friends, job and overall awesomeness? Well I guess her finance’s tapenade falls under that umbrella of awesomeness.
Not to add a spoiler, but I think we know this episode takes a dark turn in Black Mirror fashion. However, the episode still left me craving some salty and savory olive tapenade. So I dug through some recipes, comments and tweaks to present you with a perfectly tasty and Instagramable tapenade.
- 2-3 cloves garlic
- 1 cup pitted olives (Kalamata, Mediterranean mix, green- whichever you prefer)
- 1-2 tablespoons capers
- 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tables quality olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Place the garlic cloves into a blender or food processor; pulse to mince. Add half of the olives, capers, parsley, lemon juice, and olive oil mixture. Blend until everything is finely chopped. Finely chop the remaining half of ingredients. Mix together. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Serve on small toasts with a creamy cheese and enjoy!
